Tajikistan

The few people I know who have been fortunate to visit Tajikistan speak of a country of exceptional beauty – of endless mountains, huge glaciers, magnificent rivers and alpine meadows carpeted with flowers. They also enthuse about the warm welcome they received from Tajiks everywhere they went.
This should be enough to convince the curious adventure ski tourer to visit, especially if he or she also considers Tajikistan’s extraordinary wealth of history, of the Achaemenids, Alexander the Great, the Samanids and Gengis Khan. The republic was at the heart of the Silk Road, was ruled by the Persians and finally by the Soviets for seventy-four years. Tajikistan is the 2026 destination of choice as our ski exploration of the central Asian ‘Stans’ continues.
We won’t see the alpine flowers, but we should enjoy the country in the crisp, cold, sunny days of winter!
